Herb Barry writes: “I retired from teaching almost 20 years ago in the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Subsequently, I have continued contributing articles to several social science journals.”

Brooks Robinson and his wife, Jean, write: “With disappointment that the 70th Anniversary had to be postponed, we brought out our Liberty jigsaw puzzle of the SPS campus as our substitute celebration for the weekend. Nostalgia and happy memories emerge (the 1950 Gordon Medal winner is a whiz at puzzles). With hopes of seeing the splendid SPS campus in person next year.”

A note from Pete Booth: “My beautiful wife of 61 years, Carolyn, passed away in June from COVID-19, which she contracted in the nursing home of Azalea Trace. I am back in our condo in Pensacola, where we have lived for 32 years, for my final few years. I loved her so much. Still working books. More at peterbbooth.com.”

A poem submitted by Gunnar Baldwin:
The world turns
Year after year.
Life rushes by
Its end is near.
Dear friends are made
But many are gone.
Days with them seem short
Old friends do pass on.
The world spins faster
The older we get.
Years get shorter
But I am not there yet.
Slow down now, world,
I have much to do.
My leaking bucket
Gets filled with the new.
Every day that passes
Projects come to mind.
Please let me do them
If you’d be so kind.

Allan Ayers writes: “Well, COVID-19 has had a bit of an impact on my volunteering life. The fun part, taking visitors from around the world on walking tours of Chicago, has dried up, probably permanently, for me. But when I couldn’t stand the seclusion any more, I found a food bank program packing food to be distributed to those who are struggling. We’re also doing a fun neighborhood cocktail hour in the driveway, which is a good way to keep in touch with our neighbors. Needless to say, no more trips to Antarctica for a while.”
