News from Van Taylor: “Re-elected to a second term in Congress. So very humbled to serve my friends and neighbors in Collin County, Texas, for another two years. Got to talk to a Practical Politics class at St. Paul’s via Zoom – what a treat. They asked terrific questions; 2020 has challenged us all, governing in a barely functioning legislative chamber added to the mix. Wishing all a happy and healthy 2021.”
A message from Lucy Barzun Donnelly: “It’s been a strange year, difficult in all kinds of ways for all of us. One unexpected benefit has been the opportunity to reconnect with SPS friends. My husband, Robert, and I moved back to Los Angeles with the kids (Fiona, 8, and Jack, 12) and hope to see many more of you once we are on the other side of this strange time.”
Justin Lewis shares: “Like everyone, much of my life has moved online over the last several months due to the pandemic. We haven’t traveled much, seen any formmates in person, or gathered for fun milestones. Nonetheless, it was great to catch up with David Brownstein ’90 and friends from around the globe for birthday and holiday celebrations; reconnect with Lanaia Dubose to share pandemic survival tips; and form new bonds with Ray Joseph ’90, Marcy Chong, Jose Leos, Tommie Texiera, and Tiffany Stafford ’92 as we’ve reached out to fellow alums and the administration to better understand the School’s efforts to address the hostile climate of racism and sexual abuse experienced by many students in Millville. We hope that, through candor and transparency, SPS will live up to the promise of its stated mission.”

Jenny Heath writes: “Danielle Faris and I have spent lots of time together – even in the pandemic. We’ve been writing a novel (for eons), which is finally coming out in October. This may or may not be the right place to admit that we started this project in one of Dr. G’s biology classes – sorry, Dr. G! In gathering content for the book’s social media, something we are total newbs at, we asked a few SPS friends (Alison Devine Bardeen, Annie McLean Jordan, Jess Barron, Andrea Tien, and Connie Cocroft ’92) to send us old photos. Most are hysterical and humiliating, but they brought happy, nostalgic tears. What a walk down memory lane and a needed lift in these strange times.”
Dana Goodyear shares: “I’ve got a new podcast out called Lost Hills. It’s about the murder of 35-year-old Tristan Beaudette in Malibu Creek State Park in June 2018. And I ran into Ty Grant in the ocean at Topanga Beach. A mini-reunion!”

Austen Earl shares this update: “I spent my 42nd birthday as I spend every pandemic birthday – running a socially distant 50K (31 miles) on the side roads from Montauk to Southampton with my fellow Libra Oliver Haslegrave, followed later that week with some epic grass court tennis at The Meadow Club. Also, was able to pop out to Park Slope in Brooklyn for a two-hour coffee with Kevin Cummings, who still can’t dunk. Hope everyone’s hanging in there during this crazy time.”
