Sacred Ally Quilt Project

Nine United Church of Christ congregations in New Hampshire collaborated during the summer of 2020 to create 10 quilts that combine to depict the final living words of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed by a police officer during an arrest in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020. The mission of the project is to “prove that racism is not the only reality.”

The quilts, created by the New Hampshire-based Sacred Ally Quilt Project, were on display in the Crumpacker Gallery at St. Paul’s School from the end of January through March 1, as part of the School’s celebration of Black History Month. St. Paul’s was honored to be the first stop on a gallery tour for the quilts, made to celebrate and stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.

“We are excited about this initiative that has taken a multi-pronged approach,” said Bethany Dickerson Wynder, director of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at SPS, “in the spirit of ensuring what it means to live into being a beloved community.”
